NESTE Oil Finland “Corporate Core” Track Jacket — Mid 90s — Size S

ThePlugOfVintage presents one of the most exceptional archival finds we have ever handled — a mid-1990s NESTE Oil Finland corporate issue track jacket that was never available to the public. This is not a piece you can find in any store. It never was.

Exclusive Corporate Issue — Never Sold to Consumers

This jacket is an authentic, extremely limited-run PR and representative garment commissioned directly by Neste — Finland’s state-owned oil and energy corporation — for employees and business partners to celebrate the company’s bold new brand identity in the mid-1990s. It was never produced for retail. It was never sold. It exists only because Neste gave it.

Made by Leif Salo Oy / LEFA-TUOTE

Behind this jacket is Leif Salo Oy / LEFA-TUOTE, a Helsinki-based clothing and marketing specialist (registered 1987, based in Pakila, Helsinki) whose expertise was designing and executing high-quality, bespoke B2B corporate clothing collections for Finland’s largest industrial clients. This was not a budget production.

Rather than the cheap polyester used in typical promotional garments, LEFA-TUOTE specified a triacetate and polyamide blend for this Neste jacket. Triacetate was a premium specialty material of sportswear’s golden era (1970s–1990s) — prized for its silk-like lustre, exceptional softness, and the heavy, beautifully draped fall that defines the finest vintage garments. This fabric alone places this jacket in a different league from ordinary corporate merchandise.

The Logo That No Longer Exists — A Brief Window in History

The logo carried on this jacket — a white arrow-shaped diamond motif alongside the word “NESTE” in a clean modern sans-serif — was officially introduced in 1994, designed to symbolise dynamism and Neste’s powerful reinvention for a new era.

It was in use for approximately four years only. In 1998, Neste merged with Imatran Voima (IVO) to form Fortum, and this diamond logo was retired forever. Any garment bearing this mark was produced in the narrow window between 1994 and 1998 — making every single surviving piece exceptionally rare by definition.

In international streetwear culture — particularly in Tokyo and Hong Kong — the logo’s arrow-like, graphic, minimalist geometry resonates strongly with retro-futurist and urban industrial aesthetics.

About Neste Corporation

For international buyers seeking archival context: Neste was founded in 1948 by the Finnish state to secure the country’s post-war oil and energy supply. The word “Neste” means “liquid” in Finnish.

Under the legendary long-serving director Uolevi Raade, Neste grew into Finland’s largest and most powerful industrial corporation, building the country’s own major refineries at Naantali (1957) and Kilpilahti, Porvoo (1965). At the time this jacket was made (1994–1996), Neste was at its most dynamic: listing on the Helsinki Stock Exchange (1995), aggressively expanding its service station network into the Baltic states and St. Petersburg, and pioneering the development of cleaner-burning premium fuels.

Today, Neste has undergone a complete transformation — it is now the world’s leading producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), having dropped “Oil” from its name in 2015 to signal its shift to a green circular economy.

This jacket predates all of that. It belongs to the Neste that built Finland’s industrial backbone.

Condition

8/10 — Excellent Vintage

  • The jacket presents in outstanding condition — virtually unworn in appearance
  • Fabric, construction, and colours are all exceptional
  • A previous owner’s name is handwritten on the inner lining — the only flaw, and a rather charming piece of provenance for a corporate issue garment
  • No hang tags (consistent with direct corporate distribution, not retail)
  • No stains, no tears, no odour, no structural damage

A corporate issue garment in near-unworn condition, carrying a logo that existed for four years. This does not come around again.

Please note — Vintage Item Disclaimer

All items at ThePlugOfVintage are thoroughly inspected, documented, and photographed before listing. Any known flaws or imperfections are always disclosed in the product description — we believe in full transparency, because that’s the standard serious collectors deserve.

We kindly ask that you read the product description carefully and take time to review all provided images before purchasing. Our goal is to present every flaw and detail as accurately as possible — so you know exactly what you’re getting.

That said, vintage garments carry decades of history, and occasional minor signs of age, wear, or natural material changes may exist beyond what even a careful inspection can detect. If you have any specific condition questions, we are always happy to present the item personally upon request.

Every piece we list is sold as-is, as a vintage item.
